Bike Ride!

Oohhh....Mommy is sore today. So is Daddy. Really sore. The kids? Just fine, thankyouverymuch. Probably because they enjoyed our 3 hour bike ride yesterday while lounging in the kiddie trailer, snacking on dried fruit and taking in the sights. Poor Daddy, I must say. He did all the work - blazing the trail and hauling the kids....while wearing layers mind you, to "really work up a sweat and get me ready for huntin". Ha.

Hey! Let's go!

A gorgeous day in Anchorage means you MUST get out of the house directly after eggs and hash browns to enjoy the sun while it lasts. We were maniacs.....and now we're sore maniacs. I hardly had the strength to watch Colin mow the lawn and stock the Costco cart with goodies afterward. The man loves a good burn.

And we're off! Note the particularly amazing photography skills of yours truly. Not so easy to balance a camera while clutching one handlebar and watching for traffic. A plus: at this point I could still breathe.

We had the UAA trails all to ourselves.

We stopped at the park....not really by choice, I might add. Once they spied the slides, they were goners. Bubs and Sissy are a couple of suckers for a good park.

See-Sawing Senecas!

Delicious? I think so. He told me to go over and sit with Bubs to "balance out the weight". Hmm....I just left it at that.

Wouldn't be a day outside if Bubs wasn't jumping off of something!

Or Claire acting older than she is:

Gratuitous "Ineedtohaveanotherbabywiththishunkahunkaburninlove" shot:

Beautiful day for a ride around Cheney Lake! Can't beat a day like this.....and to think: it'll be snowing in no time.

Colin and I have this weird thing that we've done since the day Bubs was born. Every night, we check on the kids before we go to bed. I don't know what it is...part of it's habit but now that they're up in my grill and destroying things for 12 straight hours a day.........it's mostly because I love watching my little angels sleep. They're quiet, warm and snugly, slobbering, happy little animals. I like to get down and give them little kisses on their little beaks and smell their sweet baby breath and listen to them breathe. I just love it! Sometimes, I get fun surprises when I sneak in to hover....like blankets strewn about the room, poopy diapers or spilled milk. But last night, I came upon this and had to take a picture:

My little Pre-schooler, snuggled up with his bestest book ever. If you see a small explosion with the heavens parting and angels singing while you're watching the news on Sept. 8th....just know it's Bubs waking up on his first day of Preschool. And don't judge the sweat stains on his pillow. He can't help it, he's a boy. And his Mommy refuses to clean sheets more than once a week.

Bouncin Bears and Bargain Deals!

Yesterday, we met our buddies Wendy and Bella and Baby Eli at Bouncin Bears for their morning "open jump" session. They just opened a 3rd location across town so the place was pretty much empty, it was great! We practically had the whole place to ourselves. It was quite a work out, all the kids were red and sweaty afterward and definitely in need of "wa wa".

The pure joy of jumping on the giant pillow!

Climbing up the huge slide...."Mommy, I make sure her don't get any boo-boos".
Such a good brother.

Bubs and his Bestie, Bella. I didn't even ask him to put his arm around her. Playa.

After BB, I ran into Value Village where I had earlier seen Disney barbie dolls...I ran in and swooped up Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Pochahontas (hilarious) and a horsey for $14! Those Disney dolls sell for $16.50 apiece, I thought it was a great deal. I packed them away in my closet to suprise Claire on Christmas, she will be so thrilled!

Poor Baby Eli was not feeling well so Wendy took him to the dr. and Bella came over to play. The kids had a great time, they played "lions", read about dinosaurs, watched a movie, put together a floor puzzle, played guitar and danced and ate lunch. Whew. It was wonderful, Bubs and Claire just love Bella and were entertained the entire time.

Colin came home from Kotzebue that evening and was met with kisses and a million questions from all three of them....so cute!

We got a wonderful package from Bob in the mail! My wonderful, thoughtful, really loves my babies Bob....she sent Bubs a book all about preschool and Claire a book all about Clifford the Big Red Dog. Both books were a hit, can't you tell?? Thank you Bob, esp. for the notes you sent that will go in their baby books.

Is your face going to break Bubs? I caught him up in bed at 11:30 pm, looking through the pages. He is VERY excited to start school.

Claire kept saying "pee-school? pee-school?" while she perused her book, but Bubs was quick to point out that she would go to "BABY preschool, NOT big boy preschool".

We found another package from PapaGa on the front stoop, lazy Post Man! How amazing are our PapaGa? I mentioned to my Mom that Claire was in need of some winter clothes and lo and behold......on our stoop: a big box of clothes for both kiddos. Everything is soooo cute and exactly what I would have picked out. They sent training panties for Claire, I almost died, they are so cute. Upon Papa's insistence, there were even undershirts for Bubs too, perfect. Thank you PapaGa....for the clothes but also for being the most wonderful, loving, generous grandparents on the planet. Bubs was sound asleep so Sissy helped me open the box.

Look at that face. Look at that pinky! All she said was, "Oooohhh....pretty pants".
Is she my kid or what??

She tried on everything. These jeans were her favorite.

I enjoyed a giant 16 oz pumpkin pie latte this morning so I could have enough energy to hit up the garage sales with Lauren and Lindsay. We set out at about 8:30 and were hardcore hagglers. Okay, I was the only haggler but at least my friends didn't run away in embarrassment. I got a ton of great loot, and only spent $34 dollars! I took a picture so you can revel in my enjoyment with me. Check out that pony...only $5! I got a beautiful trifle bowl and holiday decorations and a ton of other great junk.

This is the best prize: a gorgeous glass punch bowl with 12 matching glasses and ladel for only $10!

We had a good time, even though some of the places we stopped have us the heebie-jeebies. It was worth it to see the kids love riding their new pony:

I will have to take Colin with me next time so he can barter them down and possibly get some items for free. It's a gift. This afternoon, he took Bubs to "the fishin' store" and to get haircuts. I came home to an empty dirty dish sink, a sleeping girl, and my boys rushing out of the door to leave me in blissful silence. I think I'll hold onto this one.

Bubs showing off his new do. CUTE. But then again, I'm partial. No. He's CUTE.

Colin made us battered halibut and fries for dinner...delish. My large self can hardly move...I'm off to finish the cute turtle hair bows I've been working on.
After a hot bath, of course.

PS...Something funny I came across today!

Crafty Mama

Are you even ready for this?? Here is Claire modeling her new panda bear hair bows!

Aaaggghhh! I think the curly blondness sent me over the edge. I have made some with bears, bunnies, hippos and rams too....but the best is yet to come when she will be sporting piggies, lions, monkeys and duckies! They are so cute and SO easy to make.....I'm really enjoying my quiet time while the kids sleep, esp. with some trashy TV or the obligatory American Rifleman TV when Colin is joining me on the couch. :) Okay, I don't really like that part. I will be sure to blog the other little creatures when they're all done!

There are so many fun and adorable things to make out of my book, they even have a website too and I've been obsessing over that.

Before dinner this evening, we walked to the elementary school playground by our house.

It took us a good 30 minutes to get 6 blocks....every leaf, pine cone, worm, chunk of dog poo had to be investigated by Sissy. I must have heard, "Wus at calt??" a hundred times. Good thing Bubs was there to tell her everything! When I told him he was a good big brother he said, "Yeah, I'm a good, HUGE, big bru-ler".

There was a lot of this:

And this:

Finally....the slides! You could hear "Weeeeeee-Haaaaaaaw" 10 miles away, I'm sure.

Gratuitus "Oh My Lord, All The Tantrums, Dirty Diapers and PB&Js Are Worth It Moment".....my sweet, sensitive, loving little boy....I could eat him up!!!

I really did get about 100 different shots of this. It was their most favorite thing to do:

"Wai, Wai, Sissy. I shows ya how to do it". So cute.

We are missing Daddy while he's in Kotzebue for a couple of days. The kids got a chance to talk his ear off before they went to bed but the connection is pretty brutal so everyone was talking over each other and repeating themselves. And the kids didn't even notice! Ha.

I'll be sweating buckets, being alone tonight. Every little sound in the house creeps me out. I will have to ward off burglars and kiddie kidnappers with some TLC and ice cream. Well! It could work.

Pillow Olympics and Painting

I was down for the count with an uncooperative computer for 2 days.....terrible! But my wonderful husband came home during his non-existent lunch break and fixed it. :) He hooked up the replacement piece and here I am, back in action. I can't even tell you what was wrong with it...Colin has a way with just fixing stuff. It's broken. Then it's fixed. One of the many reasons I married the man.

Lauren and I had another crafting day yesterday....love it. I am movin right along with some adorable hair bows I'm making Claire. They are so cute! Little bunnies, bears, hippos...too precious for words. In fact, I will show you through pictures when I put them in Claire's hair tomorrow. She has no idea how adorable she will be. No idea.

After naps, they kids were a little wild and needed to burn off some energy. I loaded tons of pillows, blankets and comforters into a pile and they went at it. I seriously could not get a SINGLE shot of them that wasn't blurry!

Lauren, on the other hand....perfect. You know you have awesome friends when they get down and dirty with your rugrats. Hilarious!

We have a hot date to go garage sale hopping on Saturday. Lattes and other people's used junk.....it's going to be great! We've been having a lot of fun hanging out, I'll be said when she joins the workforce and leaves me alone with my kids. Ha!

Today.....we didn't even make it out of the house. No play group, no grocery store, not even in the backyard. Yikes. It was a stay-in-your-jammies and watch cartoons day. We had a dance party in the morning and did some more Pillow Olympics....anything to allow Mommy 15 minutes alone. Can you tell I'm just thrilled for winter to get here?!

The kids had a great time painting on a big piece of butcher paper in the kitchen. They even got chocolate cookies afterward for all their hard work.

Getting started on their masterpiece, sans clothes of course:

Look at that beak! I could squeeze him and his sweetness all day!!!!! Aaaagghhhh!!!

Uh, Mommy? Yeah....whoops.

A little painting video for PapaGa! We miss you guys!!

Masterpiece all done! And Bubs enjoying his cookie after a long morning's work.

Claire in all her painting glory. The paint is Crayola Washable...but yes, she did require a "sho-wee". Who, me??

Colin is leaving tomorrow for the village of Noorvik and then Kotzebue. He'll be gone until Friday night so the kids were sure to get their fix tonight.
Here they are, reciting "Humpty Dumpty" for Claire.

I did get all the laundry done and managed to bake some more chocolate chip muffins. Tomorrow= first day of getting recipes out of "Cooking Light" and making some changes around here! I went for a run/walk/crawl yesterday evening and am enjoying the ensuing shin splints. Nice! I'm taking the kids and signing up for the gym tomorrow, wish me luck!

Yellow Boy and Potty Girl!

Rough day. My friends were all having tough days with their rugrats too. As for me, I was car-less with morning rain, so we needed to get creative. Watching "Dragon Tales" on their pillows just wasn't cutting it. But in a laundry basket? Done.

Even cuter from the front. Look at their zombie faces. Mother of the Year!

Big day at the Senecas....Bubs has learned how to pronounce "yellow"! That's a hard one...he's been practicing and at lunch today, he just blurted it out. We called Dada at work and then talked to Ga. She was very proud of him. I asked him if I could take a video of him and all he could say was, "Yellow. Yellow. Yellow". So delicious.

After dinner, we went out back and unloaded the shed. The kids helped me clean off all their outdoor toys (where Bubs found 4 slugs under the pool and stashed them in his bug catcher...such a boy) and Colin hauled out all the winter clothing. :(((((((( I am holding on to what little summer we have left! We did grab the potty seat for Claire to try out.
I think she likes it!

Bubs showed her the proper way to sit. Thanks Big Brother!
Look at the way she worships him!

I will have to remember to delete these before Claire reaches Jr. High, of course.

A Port and a Pot Roast

We spent our Sunday afternoon down at the Anchorage Port. They offered a free tour of the Port Expansion Project so we got to see all the happenings! We met my friend Alisa and her boys there and hopped on the bus for the tour. Colin sat in the front and paid rapt attention to the tour guide....there was a lot of talk about structural beams and building materials....hmmm....Alisa and I didn't learn a thing but the kids loved looking at the huge cranes!

Bubs and his buddy Brayden, checking out the equipment:

We came home and the kids slept for two glorious hours! I had some time to try out my new embroidery patterns...not too bad! I think I know a few nieces of mine who will be getting some adorable prizes for Christmas....it's not done but I think it's pretty cute. :)

Colin worked on re-loading and checked in with his grandparents on the phone. He loves talking to them, and always seems re-energized afterward. They sure love him and we love them right back! Colin even roasted a delicious pot roast for us for dinner, it was SO good. Claire looked at him between mouthfuls and said, "I LIE KIT!".

That was, of course, after she showed us her new silly face.

She thought it was VERY HILARIOUS and could not stop laughing!

After dinner we played a rousing game of "Duck Duck Goose" ("Big Duck Goose", if you're Bubs) and poor Bubs didn't know Claire was coming in for the big wind-up.
Don't worry, he got her back.

There is pure joy in playing a game with your Dad when you're almost 2. It's amazing what a 2 hour nap will do to a little girl....I thought her face would break from smiling so much.

Pile Up!!!

Our puter is acting up so they decided to investigate. We're going to have to chat up Bill about a Dell laptop....I can't have my blogging cut off!!

This morning, the kids were dancing FOOLS. I love the Toddler Tunes channel....it entertains them for a looooong time. Enough time for me to open the dryer door, look at the clothes, and decide I don't want to fold them. I'll blog instead!

Dancing Senecas! My kids have moves.
